So despite a whirlwind romance and one of the most hyped and expensive weddings in the last 50 years, Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries have not gone the distance! The celebrity couple is set for divorce after a measly 72 days of marriage, which was even less than the most jaded commentators predicted.

The wedding ceremony may have had a fairytale feel to it, but the actual marriage was another matter and despite spending about half of the 72 days apart from each other, they are already sick of each other. Well at least Kim Kardashian is sick of Kris Humphries as it was her who filed for divorce.

Kris Humphries has released a statement indicating that he is willing to reconcile, but Kim is already filing for divorce and calls the marriage irreconcilable.

Humphries said: “I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

As to why they are getting divorced, we don’t have specifics yet, but it was probably related to the fact that the couple had cameras in their faces most of the time as Kardashian has multiple reality television shows on the go and Humphries was compelled to play along. Nothing puts stress on a relationship like constantly being filmed!

Ryan Seacrest used Twitter to leak the news, writing: “Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins.”

The wedding itself was a massive affair costing a few million dollars and featuring hundreds of guests and a lavish party. Of course the entire event was filmed by entertainment program E! who paid an estimated $2 million to film the event. So after the wedding Kim Kardashian found herself a few million dollars richer and has now dumped her husband.

E! released a statement: “All of us at E! are surprised and saddened by this news, and we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time. The Kardashians have always been uniquely open with all aspects of their lives from joyous events to intimate moments to heartbreaking transitions.”

As for Kim Kardashian’s statement, she wrote: “After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

Kim Kardashian was looking very glamorous and sophisticated as she walked down the red carpet at the 2011 Teen Choice awards. Instead of going for her usual sexy look, Kim toned it down a little and was more subdued with a simple black miniskirt and white top. Perhaps this was in response to criticism last year from people who said she was showing too much cleavage at childrens award shows!

But regardless, Kim really pulled off the look, appearing elegant and stylish as she smiled for cameras and posed with her sisters. Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner were all in attendance at the awards show and Khloe even took her husband Lamar Odom, along for company.

The annual awards show was held in California again, at Universal city and attracted many celebrities and hundreds of screaming teenage fans. The Kardashians took out an award for best “Female Reality/Variety Star” for Keeping up with the Kardashians.

Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner are both much higher than their older sisters now and could easily pass as super models. Strange to think that they are still growing as well – they will be very tall women!

Kim tweeted about her win after the show, writing: “We won a Teen Choice Award for best Variety tv show! Thanks to everyone who voted! Let’s go surfing!!!”

It was a bit of a shock for burger lovers who were enjoying some fast food at the St Cloud “Five Guys Burgers” when Kim Kardashian walked in the door! On Friday Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries popped into the burger joint for a leisurely lunch and to meet some fans.

The whole event was filmed by a TV crew of course, and is going to be a part of a 4hr engagement special featuring Kardashian and Humphries.

Some fans had a heads up that Kim Kardashian was planning the visit to the burger joint, so there were a few lined up before the doors opened. The owner of the shop said: “We opened 15 minutes earlier because we already had 10 people at the door!”

Kim and Kris were in town to spend some time with Kris Humphries’ grandparents who live in St Cloud. Buy all accounts Kim is impressing the Humphries clan with Kris’ dad, William Humphries saying: “I like her. She’s very kind, she’s a very gentle person. She has a very strong faith, being a Christian — that’s probably what doesn’t come across (on her show)”

Kim Kardashian has been ramping up her wedding preparations for the last couple of months, leading to a lot of speculation of a quick wedding. Well the rumors have been revealed to be trued with an August 20 wedding date announced.

It’s been a bit of whirlwind affair between Kardashian and professional basketballer Kris Humphries, with the pair only dating for a couple of months before announcing their engagement. Now the wedding is on it’s way and fast!

It almost looks like a shotgun wedding, but we haven’t seen Kim Kardashian sporting a baby bump yet.

Kris Jenner is apparently the woman in charge of the wedding and reception and she has jumped into the massive party planning with two feet. Khloe says Kris Jenner is doing a great job: “I have no idea what’s going on. But I’ve seen how much my mom has been doing, and I don’t know how my mom does it! Kim should be kissing the ground that she walks on. It’s amazing.”

However Khloe Kardashian claims that Kris Humphries still hasn’t spent much time with the Kardashian family – he might not be a good fit!

Kris Jenner definitely has her hands full with a guest list of 1000 people, a fleet of luxury cars and at this time, still no venue found for the event.

Kim Kardashian has been having a frantic summer full of life changes as she prepares to marry professional basketballer Kris Humphries. Her latest change isn’t as significant as her upcoming wedding – she has changed her hair color!

Lately Kardashian has kept her hair close to her natural dark brown/black color but as she has done on previous summers – she has gone for a lighter shade for the season.

She was spotted leaving a television taping in Studio City, California and the paparazzi noticed the new hair style. Kim tweeted her fans about it of course, writing: “I dyed my hair lighter for summer, I’m loving it! I feel younger!”.

Kim recently returned to Minnesota, the home town of her fiance Kris Humphries, where she spent time with Kris and his family.\
